Money — The Honest Local Advice

UPI and card payment are accepted almost everywhere in Jaisalmer but always carry cash as a backup. Although ATMs are available, we recommend carrying cash of at least 5000 rupees.

Why Cash is Still Important:

Sam Sand Dunes and camp areas UPI signal is weak to zero. operators prefer cash
Auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws — mostly cash only
Small local shops and street food stalls — cash preferred
Kuldhara, Longewala and remote border areas — no network at all
Tips for safari guides, camp staff and drivers — always cash
Our Recommendation: Pay big expenses — hotels, packages, taxi bookings — by UPI or card. But always carry at least ₹5000 to ₹6000 in cash for daily small expenses, tips and remote area needs.

ATM Situation:

There are many ATMs in Jaisalmer city near Sadar Bazaar and the fort area. But they can run out of cash during peak season. Withdraw enough cash from your city before arriving — do not rely on finding a working ATM in Jaisalmer.

📄 Documents Verification Protocols

  • Government photo ID — Aadhaar, Passport, Driving Licence — mandatory for border area visits
  • Photocopies of ID — keep separate from originals
  • Hotel and booking confirmations — printed or screenshot saved offline
  • Emergency contact numbers saved — including our number
Important for Border Area Visits: If you are visiting Longewala War Memorial or Tanot Mata Temple, you will need to show a valid photo ID at the checkpost. Indian tourists — Aadhaar works perfectly. International tourists — passport required. Do not worry — we handle all of this for our tourists and guide you through the process smoothly.
