Gadisar Lake is a beautiful man-made lake and an important part of the heritage of Jaisalmer. It stands as one of the main attractions in Jaisalmer tourism, offering a tranquil escape right near the heart of the city.
The lake was built in 1367 AD by Maharawal Gadsi Singh. In the past, for centuries, this lake was the only water source for the entire Golden City. Kings, merchants, camel caravans — everyone depended on Gadisar, and they built beautiful temples and carved archways all around its banks to show their gratitude.
Today, it is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful chhatri structures standing gracefully in the water, and mesmerizing sunset views. During winter, it becomes a sanctuary for migratory birds, making it ideal for boating and photography.
