Money — The Honest Local Advice
UPI and card payment are accepted almost everywhere in Jaisalmer but always carry cash as a backup. Although ATMs are available, we recommend carrying cash of at least 5000 rupees.
Why Cash is Still Important:
ATM Situation:
There are many ATMs in Jaisalmer city near Sadar Bazaar and the fort area. But they can run out of cash during peak season. Withdraw enough cash from your city before arriving — do not rely on finding a working ATM in Jaisalmer.
📄 Documents Verification Protocols
- Government photo ID — Aadhaar, Passport, Driving Licence — mandatory for border area visits
- Photocopies of ID — keep separate from originals
- Hotel and booking confirmations — printed or screenshot saved offline
