What is the best time to visit Jaisalmer?
October to March is the best time — the weather is pleasant, all outdoor activities are running and the desert is at its most beautiful. February is the most magical month because of the Desert Festival. Book everything well in advance for this period.
How many days are enough for Jaisalmer?
Our honest recommendation is a minimum of 2 nights and 3 days — this gives you enough time for city sightseeing, a desert safari and an overnight desert camp experience.
Is Jaisalmer safe for solo female travelers?
Absolutely yes. Jaisalmer is one of the safest cities in Rajasthan for solo female travelers. The local people are warm, respectful and genuinely welcoming. Is it very cold at the desert camp at night?
In December and January it can get very cold at desert camp. Temperatures can drop to 4°C or below near zero after midnight. Always carry thermals, a warm jacket and a woollen cap for overnight desert camp stays in these months. In October, November and March — evenings are cool but pleasant with just a light jacket.
What is the dress code for Jaisalmer temples?
Shoulders and knees must be covered for all temple and fort area visits. Inside the Jain Temples in the fort no leather items are allowed at all.
Can I use UPI and cards in Jaisalmer?
Yes — most restaurants, hotels and shops in Jaisalmer city accept UPI and cards. But carry cash backup of at least ₹5000 to ₹6000.
What language do people speak in Jaisalmer?
Rajasthani (Marwadi) and Hindi are the main languages. English is widely understood in all tourist areas like hotels, restaurants, shops and with most drivers and guides. Our team speaks Hindi, English and Rajasthani.

Mobile signal at Sam Sand Dunes is moderate to weak on most networks. Jio works slightly better than others.
How much cash should I carry for a Jaisalmer trip?
Carry at least ₹5000 to ₹6000 for daily small expenses — auto rickshaws, small shops, street food, tips, remote areas. Always withdraw cash before arriving in Jaisalmer as ATMs here can be unreliable during peak season.
